I am a little stiff and achey, will yoga help?
Yoga is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Many people take up yoga because of common back problems and find that yoga helps. Julie would need to know about any injuries or existing conditions before you come to class.
What should I wear?
Most people wear a t-shirt with shorts or leggings. Be prepared to practise in bare feet. It is preferable for Julie to see knees and ankles in order to help correct your poses.
Can I eat before class?
It best to allow 3-4 hours after a main meal and 2 hours after a snack.
Do I need to bring anything?
Initially just yourself and a mat! After a few months when you have decided to continue it is a good idea to get your own basic equipment.
How often should I come?
Come at least once per week. Some students attend 2 or 3 classes per week. Progress is dependent on regular attendance.
Can I do yoga while pregnant?
If you already do Iyengar yoga regularly then it is usually fine to continue as long as Julie is aware of the pregnancy. However these classes are not suitable for someone who is already pregnant and has not done Iyengar yoga before.
What if I have a period?
If you are menstruating some poses are not suitable so consult with Julie at the beginning of the class.
